Egg Chair by Fritz Hansen: Privacy and Comfort

The egg chair by Fritz Hansen was born from the collaboration between an ingenious designer and a big producer: from a collaboration like this could born only the best products, like the egg chair. The Arne Jacobsen Egg Chair was the culminations of a new technique that Jacobsen pioneered with the Egg. Like a sculptor, Jacobsen first sculpted the Egg out of clay in his garage so he could perfect the shape. He then molded the Egg Chair out of a strong foam inner shell under the upholstery.

The result is a wholly unique shape, meaning the Jacobsen Egg Chair affords privacy in otherwise public spaces. The egg chair by Fritz Hansen was born from the idea of Arne Jacobsen (yet famous for the ant chair, with its unique, original and instantly recognizable shape) and represents one of the most important success for the Danish piece of furniture producer.

The cooperation between Arne Jacobsen and Fritz Hansen dates back to 1934. But in was in 1952 the break-through came with the Ant. It was succeeded by the Series 7 in 1955. This propelled his and Fritz Hansen's names into furniture history. Arne Jacobsen was very productive both as an architect and as a designer. At the end of the 50s Arne Jacobsen designed the Royal Hotel in Copenhagen, and for that project the Egg, the Swan, the Swan sofa and Series 3300.

Arne Jacobsen was and is an admired and outstanding designer. While the significance of Arne Jacobsen's buildings was less appreciated, his furniture and other design work have become national and international heritage.

The egg chair by Fritz Hansen can join privacy (always needed in the hall of a big hotel, with a lot of person around) and comfort, thanks to the strong foam in the inner shell, underneath the upholstery. This technical solution granted a very comfortable seat. The technical solutions and the original shape made the Arne Jacobsen egg chair by Fritz Hansen a classic piece in the modern design. The production of the egg chair began in 1958 and it was produced also at present time: this is the most important sign of the success of this unique chair, with a really original shape.

Today you can find the Arne Jacobsen egg chair by Fritz Hansen with different colors and  coating: from the classic leather to the elegant wool with cachemire. If you will buy an egg chair you will find not only a chair, but also an evergreen object of design, a piece of history furniture. You can find the Arne Jacobsen egg chair in a wide range of colors and coating, so you can put this chair in every kind of furniture, always giving a glimpse of style and elegance.

And you can choose this style without losing practicality: because the egg chair by Fritz Hansen is made with a technical system that gives the chair an 360 rotation angle and technical system that give you the opportunity to change the inclination of the chair following the weight of different users.

Try the experience of sit in an egg chair and you will find yourself wrapped in a shell and relaxing even in the crowd.
